The shower/tub in my home was not there when we moved in. I found a good place for it to go and the wall got framed in. Next was to decide on a design, keeping a low budget in mind. I wanted to learn how to tile, so I found a 4x4 white tile, inexpensive and all the materials and tools. Last fall I hired a contractor that said they would put up the e-board for me.... They messed up bad!
The board was cracking and warping, they even glued some of it to the drywall.
After removing all the messed up board I needed to hang a few more sheets of drywall, over the lip of the bath tub. We decided to install a pre made 5 piece tub surround that fit our budget and need. It was under $65.00 including tax. While at Menards I bought a 4 pack of sealant and adhesive made for tub surrounds. Knowing that it will all eventually get used in another bathroom in the future. Following directions the walls of the surround went up and where taped down. One of the corners was bent outward so I used a 10 lb bag of sugar to help hold it in place and some duct tape on the areas that didn't want to hold with just painters tape.
After sitting for 24 hours I removed the tape and with the caulking gun, sealed all the seams. Still need to add the sliding doors, but that will be next week since the shower has already been out of commission for two days. I'm happy with the results.
